In Sync

Just a list of articles, opinions I agree with on us finishing last among the Super Eight in the T20 WC in West-Indies.
  1. A very harshly worded by Sidharth Monga is here, http://www.cricinfo.com/world-twenty20-2010/content/current/story/459405.html
  2. Former players are in sync with me here, http://www.cricinfo.com/world-twenty20-2010/content/current/story/459426.html
  3. Avijit Ghosh asks the question I have been asking since we lost to Australia in the Super Eights, http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Addictions/entry/pathetic-team-india-bows-out
  4. More former players last out, http://cricket.rediff.com/report/2010/may/12/former-players-flay-dhonis-captaincy-after-indias-exit-from-world-t20.htm

Perhaps in my next blog entry I have to come up with what's wrong and how it can be corrected. I can't rely on former players and people running the show to make the right decisions. ;-)

Questions and doubts of IPL over national duty arent confined to cricket alone. In 2006 when Brazil's blue eyed boy Ronaldinho came a cropper even against a lower rated side like France , questions were raised on his loyalties. IPL can only be seen as a hair raising experience. Why can't bouncing tracks be prepared for IPL? That would have been ideal match practice for T20 in WI.It also pays to note there weren;t scores of 200-240 and 40 ball centuries. There is no point in an anatomy of losses when we knew they were coming. I agree with Dhoni that one practice session wouldn;t have made much difference--most of the players would have skipped it in the name of rest. What baffles me is the way our team neglected the vulnerabilities. Short pitch stuff has produced some high pitch shin music and barring Rohit Sharma, everyone seemed tottering. The selectors had outrightly denied that IPL performance was not a yardstick for selection. How then did Murali Vijay find a mention when Robin Uthappa, one of the best pullers, was left behind. Dhoni complains of heavy partying post IPL that wore them out.He was no kid and deservedly as the Indian captain had every right to decline.Captains like Pataudi had instille great discipline in the team. One can only hope Dhoni learns from the Nawab
